10 Months

As many of you know, this past month has been a whirlwind for us. Chad accepted a coaching position in Flower Mound, TX (Dallas FW area). They wanted him up here right away so he could start implementing his defense since it would be new for the other defensive coaches and the players. We both resigned our positions, packed, cleaned, and put our house on the market within a few weeks. We have moved in with Chad's parents in Little Elm, TX until our house sells.
We are going to miss our weekly get togethers with Aunt Rachel and Uncle Aaron very much!

I, however, am unemployed for the first time since I was 14 years old working at Papa Jake's Donut Shop. I have interviewed with the local school district's human resources and I have sent out my resume to all of the local elementary schools. They seem to do most of their hiring here in April and I've noticed some positions are just beginning to be posted on their website. I'm hoping to get back into the classroom after this year of working as an instructional reading coach. I would much rather teach kids how to do the right thing than adults.

In the meantime, I am cherishing every second as a stay at home mommy. Graham and I have gotten into a good eating, napping, playing routine. We take neighborhood walks, go to the park, run errands in the middle of the day...I cannot tell you how peaceful Target is at 11 a.m.!

As crazy as it has all been, the timing has worked out really well. Chad's mom, Emie, was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent surgery this week. The surgeon got all of it and she is officially cured of cancer...no chemo. We've been able to help out a little and go up to the hospital each day. I know she is anxious to get back home to the new man of the house...Mr. Graham. She had not been experiencing any symptoms. They found the tumor when they were performing preop work for elective foot surgery. Had she not decided to have her feet worked on, she could have been in much worse shape by the time the cancer had been discovered. I don't believe in coincidence...

I can't believe that our baby is becoming a little boy. He turned 10 months old today. It's already time to start thinking about his first birthday party! Graham has two teeth (bottom) now. I will probably never get a picture because he swats my hand every time I try to take a peek. He's pulling up to standing position on everything...makes me a nervous wreck. AND he got his first real big boy haircut today!

It was really important to me that his first haircut be at a REAL barber shop. I found one in Flower Mound called Back 'n Time. It had all antique barber chairs, free sodas and crackers, the barber pole and the whole bit. Graham did much better than either of us expected. He seemed to like the feel of the clippers. He was hamming it up for all of the other men in the place. They gave him a certificate for entering "boyhood" with his hair taped to it. We will definitely be heading back there for the next cut.

Next week we have a visit from Aunt Becky and Cousin Paisley to look forward to. I think they're going to have so much fun entertaining each other! Graham seems to miss being around the kids at Mrs. Karen's house. When we go out to eat he gets so excited when he sees another child. He smiles and will twist an turn in his highchair to be able to see them and "visit." I have no doubts they will keep each other very busy!

Happy 10th month birthday Graham. Maybe things will calm down when Emie gets home-we're so glad things went well and that the cancer was detected early. Wish you were all here to celebrate-Matt is cooking for all the March birthday people today (his is today, 37!) Love, Mom

OMG - Paisley cannot stop talking about seeing Graham. She has big plans for him. Her big dream is to go shopping in a shopping cart for two and sit next to Graham while Pa Pa pushes them around!! She talks about it every time we see those double carts. We just moved the last piece of crap out of our house and we close Wednesday - I hate moving. I hope your house sells quickly.
